Week 4

Intent:

Students are to:

  • Develop a e-collaboration approach with students in Ottawa,
  • Develop a project which could be implemented in both facilities,
  • create goals/objectives with e-collaboration partners on Monday, September 30th and implement on Wednesday, October 2nd.

Task:

Part 1 – e-collaboration:

  • Launch Skype and video call your partners,
  • Introduce yourself,
  • Pitch the project,
  • Discuss the approach to implementing the project,
  • Share your screen,
  • Winnipeg student to share SkyDrive Self-Directed Unit folder with students in Ottawa

Part 2 – documenting:

  • take a minimum of 3 screenshots of your collaboration.  Annotate the screenshots.  Save as:  groupname_ss.png.
  • One student in each location will use a tablet to record the meeting and create a short informative trailer called “first contact,”
  • Upload the video to your vimeo channel,
  • JUST A REMINDER – DO NOT USE NAMES IN VIDEOS

CHECKLIST:

Plan: 

  • a social media forum for sharing resources,
  • discuss how to set and meet goals,
  • set times to work on the project outside of class time,

Implement:

  • assign roles,
  • determines 3 project goals for next week,

Assess (Friday):

  • On Friday assess the effectiveness of your e-collaboration approach

Review (Friday):

  • Review other options to for e-collaboration

Part 3 – Posting:

Each student will create a new Week 4 sub-page under their Self-Directed Unit (set page order to 3)

  • upload the vimeo URL
  • Upload and insert each screenshot.  Use a caption to explain what is happening in the screenshots,
  • Upload your plan in the Text Editor
