Activity 4: Easy Character Design

Intent:

  • Create new strokes using the appearance palette in Adobe Illustrator,
  • Merge shapes in Adobe Illustrator,
  • Apply expanding options,
  • Use Offset Paths  in Adobe Illustrator,
  • Apply align palette in Adobe Illustrator,
  • Use the X and Y axis  in Adobe Illustrator,
  • Use subtract shape pathfinder option  in Adobe Illustrator

Task:

  • Save as: firstlastname_activity4.ai in your Graphics Unit/Activity 4 folder
  • Save as:  firstlastname_activity4.eps in your Graphics  Unit/Activity 4 folder
  • Export as:  firstlastname_activity4.png in your Graphics Unit/Activity 4 folder

Part 2:

  • Now create a series of 4 characters of your choice, such as :Zombies, Werewolves or Vampires in the same fashion (in different poses) as the Ninjas,
  • Save as: firstlastname_activity4b.ai in your Graphics Unit/Activity 4 folder
  • Save as:  firstlastname_activity4b.eps in your Graphics  Unit/Activity 4 folder
  • Export as:  firstlastname_activity4b.png in your Graphics Unit/Activity 4 folder

Part 3:

  • Now create an artboard the size of:
    • 1080 X 720 pixels @ 150 resolution
  • Create a scene where your ninjas are interacting with the 4 characters from part 2 (Zombies, Werewolves or Vampires)
  • The Background should be very simple.  Ground and a gradient background for a sky.

Part 4 – Posting Your Work:

Saving:

  • Save as: firstlastname_activity4c.ai in your Graphics Unit/Activity 4 folder
  • Save as:  firstlastname_activity4c.eps in your Graphics Unit/Activity 4 folder
  • Export as:  firstlastname_activity64cpng in your Graphics Unit/Activity 4 folder

Posting:

  • When students complete part 1,  your saved work must be submitted your Graphics Unit (parent page)/Activity 4 page (sub-page)
  • When students complete part 1,  your saved work must be submitted your SkyDrive Graphics Unit Folder
  • Upload and insert your png file into your page.
  • Use captions to identify your image.
